1. Pemakai Utama Pemakai utama dalam akuntansi manajemen adalah pihak internal perusahaan, pihak internal perusahaan adalah manajemen, mulai dari tingkat yang paling bawah hingga tingkat puncak dan informasi yang digunakan dapat digunakan dalam menjalankan aktifitas perusahaan seperti perencanaa, pengendalian, penilaian kinerja dan pengambilan keputusan. Pemakai utama akuntansi keuangan adalah pihak luar perusahaan seperti investor, kreditor, pemerintah dan informasi keuangan disajikan dalam bentuk Laporan laba rugi, laporan perubahan ekuitas, laporan posisi keuangan perusahaan, laporan arus kas dan catatan atas laporan keuangan dan laporan yang dihasilkan oleh akuntansi keuangan digunakan dalam pengambilan keputusan seperti menentukan apak akan melakukan investasi atau melakukan penarikan atas investasi yang dilakukan atau bagi bank  untuk memutuskan memberikan pinjaman atau tidak pada sebuah perusahaan.  

2. Akuntansi manajemen mencatat dan melaporkan kejadian-kejadian yang telah terjadi tapi lebih menekankan pada informasi kegiatan dimasa yang akan datang. 

3. Pembatasan prosedur dalam akuntansi keuangan cenderung menghasilkan informasi yang objektif dan dapat diverifikasi, dalam akuntansi manajemen informasinya dapat berupa informasi keuangan dan non keuangan dan dapat bersifat objektif.

4. Orientasi waktu :  Akuntansi keuangan memiliki orientasi historis fungsinya mencatat dan melaporkan kegiatan – kegiatan yang telah terjadi.
